Baby Peanut: 24 and 25 Weeks

24 Weeks
I've been at a work conference for the last week and oh, man, was it crazy: 8,000 attendees, including all of our major clients; seminars all day; marketing breakfasts, lunch, and dinners; and parties at night.  I. am. exhausted.  If you think lawyers can't stay up and party with the best of them, you are sadly mistaken.  Normally, I'd be up until 2:00 or 3:00 with clients.  This year I got the privilege of sneaking back to my room around 1:00 a.m.  That's still way too late for me to be up at six months pregnant, especially when I have to be ready to go again at 8:00 a.m.  Oh, and being the only completely sober person in a room?  Not all that fun.

P.S. - Law schools never mention that marketing is an enormous part of being a lawyer, and they really should.  Interpersonal skills are as important as brief writing, if not more so - especially when you are in an "eat what you kill firm" like I am.

25 Weeks and another crappy bathroom (no pun intended) picture
A few things I learned from these past two weeks:

  • Bad food makes you feel really bad when you're pregnant.  Every lunch and dinner I went to was extremely short on healthy options and so I felt bloated and heavy by the time I left the conference.
  • Lack of sleep can make you feel hungover, and that's just cruel.
  • I either looks "four months pregnant" or like I'm having twins - it just depends on who you ask.
  • People enjoying rubbing the belly.   I'm not comfortable with that.
J and I are running the Gridiron 5k tomorrow at UCF. The idea is to wear your college colors and race against other fans.  There is no question that this will be my slowest 5k ever.  I haven't run since Sunday; I'm under the weather; and oh, yeah - I'm 25 weeks pregnant.  He agreed to run with me, but what he doesn't know is that I may just walk the whole darn thing.  J is a very competitive person by nature and I keep telling him that it's OK to ditch me, but he's being very supportive. We'll see how long that lasts when a group of Florida State fans pass us.

In more positive news, Baby Peanut is now a pound and a half and 13.5 inches long.  She hiccups a lot, just like I did when I was a baby.  I feel her squirming and kicking quite a bit, which is apparently common in weeks 24-28 because the baby has the most room to move around during that time frame.  She's most active at night and in the morning.

My hair is getting pretty thick and my nails are growing like weeds thanks to my prenatal vitamins.  I had heartburn during the conference, but I think it was because of the food I ate and not the pregnancy.  Dropping it low during Dance Trance is getting a little harder and I am seriously in need of new work out shirts.  They are way too short now.  Thanks, belly!

Speaking of belly: I'm basting myself in BioOil every night in the hopes of avoiding stretch marks.  I'll let you know how that works out. ;-)  And finally - the innie is about to become an outie and out of all the things that have happened to me, this grosses me out the most.

  1. You are so cute - and I love that blue dress.

Embrace the outtie :) I had one for both pregnancies. It went right back in with B, but only halfway with L. Hmph.

I truly believe that stretchmarks are genetics. I didn't get them - but I do get cholasma (brown spots all over my face - some remain), so I swear if it's not one thing, it's another.

Oh - and yay hiccups! They can get annoying, but I loved feeling them because I knew that things were going well - and baby girl peanut is learning how to breath!

  3. Nice pics!! Intake of calorie food prevents you from vitamin deficiency, results in healthy pregnancy.
