Baby Peanut: 22 and 23 Weeks
23 weeks down, 17 (hopefully!) to go.
Baby Peanut is now 11 inches long and weights over a pound. 11 inches! That's 18% of my height, for goodness sake! She can now hear outside voices and music. Hopefully she covers her ears during Dance Trance. They use the unedited versions of songs and I'd hate for her her first sentence to be, "Mommy's a big booty ho."
I think she has been on a pretty big growth spurt because I have been super hungry and exhausted the past two weeks. I'm afraid that some of this magical second trimester energy may be disappearing. Well, either that or it was a myth to begin with. This past Tuesday I gave up after two miles on the treadmill. I was just so dang tired that I couldn't finish my run and even walking seemed like too much. It was disappointing. I recall reading somewhere that Kara Goucher had said she had some "incredibly bad days" during her pregnancy and while I think her bad day would be akin to my best day ever, there is some truth there. I went to Dance Trance last night and felt completely fine. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.
In other news: I've learned to try and avoid overly salty foods. Too much salt and I get ham hock feet. It's not cute and is actually fairly painful. You heard it here first.
Now that we are done registering, I've moved on to the nursery. My brother Jonathan is an interior designer so I ordered the furniture through him and was granted a pretty steep discount off retail. Now I'm looking at fabric swatches and trying to decide what we want for bedding. Jonathan vetoed almost all of them.
I also made my first trip to the dreaded maternity store and it wasn't too bad. They give you all the free juice, snacks and water you want because the prices in there are tantamount to highway robbery. I went because I needed a black skirt and black pants for work and those belly bands that you buy at Target make my clothing look lumpy and weird.
The saleswoman insisted on taking my picture with the fake bump. So here I am with a "9 month belly" <----yeah, right. Like the rest of me is going to stay the same size. This is at the end of a work day. Can you tell I'm a little tired? Jeez. I need makeup. In the end, I got one dress, one pair of pants, a skirt, and jeans, and it cost more than I've spent on clothing for the entire year. And that was with a coupon.
So I know it's a ways away (like, over a year), but for BP's first Halloween, how funny would it be to have her dress up with the dogs? We have shih tzus, after all. This costume was practically made for them. If only they had an Ewok version: that would be completely perfect.
Finally, speaking of the dogs: they know something's up. Roddy won't stop laying on my stomach and Scooter just peed in the house for the first time in years. Ruh-Roh.

I'm looking forward to Halloween this year because I LOVE babies in costumes! Now I just have to figure out what to do once we're in costume.
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of baby/dog coordinated costumes. I am always jealous of dog owners because you can seriously lose an eye trying to get a costumes on a cat.
you look adorable. for reals. I’m surprised you aren’t just letting J do the whole thing. :) i have one room left in my house and told amanda to “have at it” and i will just pay for it. i suck at making house decisions. were you at a pea in a pod? that place is OUTRAGEOUS.
ReplyDeleteMy baby is due on Oct 25th, I really want to dress him up on a Halloween costume, but I am afraid if I buy one ahead of time I will totally jinx it and will be pacing around the house long overdue on Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see pictures of the nursery once it is done!
I see several good fabric options... bring them over-- I'll help you decorate! :) I love your forced photo outfit-- cute top and great work skirt!
