This weekend J and I drove up to The Villages to meet my Mom and brother for dinner. My Mom recently moved from Alabama to The Villages and Jonathan is helping her decorate her house.
If you live in Florida, you've probably heard of The Villages. it's the largest retirement community in the country, and it's got a
bit of a reputation due to its resident's purported nighttime activities. T
hat's all I'm gonna say about it. We're talking about my Mom here.

Fail #1 was when we tried to use the GPS in my Mom's car to make it from her new house to Bonefish. The Villages is freaking massive and comprised of three counties, so navigating is a bit of a challenge. 45 minutes later, we were at the restaurant. Should have taken ten minutes. I nearly gnawed off my arm waiting for someone to bring my some bang bang shrimp.
On the way home from The Villages, J and I talked about our favorite restaurants in Gainesville (I guess I was still hungry?), including Satchels Pizza, this total hippie joint where you can eat inside an old bus.
Satchels makes this incredible house salad with apples, carrots, onions, cheese, nuts and homemade dressing. If you go there, you simply must get it. Well, I couldn't get the idea of that salad out of my head. Yesterday, I googled a few copycat recipes, went to the store, and bought all the ingredients. Apples were diced, onions sliced, and nuts toasted. I went to the fridge to grab the lettuce.
I forgot to buy lettuce for the salad. Fail #2.
Yesterday was also my annual review at work. I was so nervous I sweated through my shirt and my teeth chattered while answering the head partner's questions. Could. Not. Wait. To. Get. Out. Of. There. The review itself was fine. My reaction to it? Fail #3.
Fail #4?
The Taltos Twins, currently rep'ing Florida (both the State and the University) on Bachelor Pad. Apparently they rose to fame by sleeping with various members of the Jersey Shore cast? Tsk, Tsk, ladies.
Apparently Erica (don't ask me which one that is)
was a walk on to UF's cross country team, one of the best in the nation. She also won the OUC Half in 2009 with a time of 1:24:07! The other one (errr...Brittany) has a 5k PR of 19:36. So please tell me: how do you go from this...
to this?

Ugh, I hate when embarrassing Gators surface. But I do love Satchel's! I miss it so much!

ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not the only one who unnecessarily freaks out about performance reviews! As for the runners... the situation? Really? He's so annoying! They could have at least gone for Vinny or Pauly!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, way to represent Florida ladies (eye roll). You know I love me some Bachelor & Bachelorette but I can't bring myself to watch Bachelor Pad, it's too much of a train wreck!
