| Card from my hilarious friend Lindsay |
Last night, I was in Publix picking up dinner for J and myself. Just as I was about to leave, he called. The conversation went something like this:
J: "What'd you get for dinner?"
Me: "I picked up a rotisserie chicken."
J: "Ugh, Peanut, I
hate their chicken. You always get the chicken. Can't you pick something else instead?"
Me: Rolls eyes, stomps feet. "No, I CANNOT. You will eat whatever I buy and you will DEAL with it."
Two days before that:
J and are I eating at a Mexican restaurant (how I can even go into a Mexican restaurant now is beyond me, but that's beside the point). I'm mowing down the chips and queso with gusto. J looks at me and innocently says,
"Peanut, you need to eat a real dinner. You can't just eat chips."
I burst into tears and nearly left the restaurant.

OK, so maybe my attitude has sucked a little, teensy bit this week. My poor husband. I'm starting to realize that being pregnant is like having a 24/7 case of PMS - or, if you've been on fertility medications, like taking Clomid or Femara. Hormones are powerful things.

Betcha wouldn't want to run into her in a dark alley
Other than my fabulous attitude, what else has been going on this week?
Although you can't really tell from the picture, my belly is definitely getting bigger. I've started doing the rubber band around the button trick to make my jeans a little looser. My stomach is still kind of flat in the morning, but by the evening, it's poking out big time. Sucking it in is a lot more challenging and kind of hurts. The good news is that the larger my stomach gets, the smaller my butt looks! Also, now that I'm in second trimester, I'm supposedly banned from doing crunches. Woo hoo!
We are still another five weeks from finding out the sex, but that hasn't stopped people from guessing. The votes are split right down the middle. Most of our family thinks it's a boy, but many of our friends think it's a girl. I think it's a boy only because we can't agree on a single boy name.
Also this week: we did our baby budget and it's pretty sobering. I started reading Baby Bargains and literally had nightmares about breast pumps and nursing bras. We also registered for daycare. There's a 6-12 month waiting list for our preferred facility, which is just crazy but supposedly not uncommon. I find it pretty nuts that I'm registering an unborn child for daycare when I'm not even in maternity clothes yet.
Ending on a positive note: I've run three times this week and other than the sensation of having to constantly pee, it's been pretty comfortable! I hope this continues for another couple of weeks!

Heard your big news from GoodForYouBlog. So happy for you!! Glad all is going well. Wasn't a runner when I was pregnant so I can't imagine what that feels like. Love your new peanut header too!
ReplyDeleteYou still look too good in that picture. In fact, almost downright adorable. This won't do. When do you start getting bigger so I can pose in lots of pictures with you and finally look smaller?
ReplyDeleteFirst off, you look fabulous! Second, just spend the money on the high end breast pump. You'll be glad you did. And finally, OH MY GOD hormones! I don't know if I should even tell you about the post birth hormones... of course, my situation is probably not the norm and I never took fertility meds so I don't know how they compare.
ReplyDeletelove reading about your food issues. and, I have to agree with J. hate grocery store chicken. bleh. :) but, i think you can totally eat chips.
